Dogs in Houston
1981 - 1983
This project continues from New Mexico. The change in the climate and the ability to not be able to see long distances required a different language in the drawings, paintings, and prints. This new language describes a humid, close environment where it is difficult to see even through to the next block by setting pattern and intense, unnatural colors close to the surface of the picture.
There is a different kind of violence and attempts at escape alluded to in these pictures. The kind of patterning evident in the pictures from New Mexico have been evolving into a different set with more irregular and non-repeating sets of pattern-like marks.
