Passages
‘Passages’ conflates two kinds of passage – first, travel as a passage from one place to another, - and second, as a small passage of text within a larger text. The conflation of the two meanings of the word is important here partly because both refer to transition, or moving from one place to another either in the physical world or in the acquisition of information. ‘Passages’ is a project using passages of text woven into collaged print/drawings for the purposes of thinking through transition. The moving - from something and then to something - is a passage, and the fact that a transition occurred is clear, however, the actual transition processes are not. Transitions in life are often opaque until later, when reflection can occur and clarity may be closer.
